Here is a painting I especially did for ELEGY MAGAZINE (Fr)! 3 days of work with watercolor (and no photoshop!). Original drawing is quite big though. Thanks to Elegy (and Rose!) and Prophecy Productions.

Usually my posts here are about good news and things that make me happy. Today is different, I got to know that a friend of mine, David Gold of the band Woods Of Ypres passed away in a car crash,on 22nd December. He was 31 years old. Despite we never met, we shared a lot of emails and worked together several times. It was a pleasure working and writing with him, so I wanted to pay tribute to the great musician and singer he was, my thoughts to go all his close people.
Very sad news. Really.

Tons of news these days and that's not going to stop fortunately! So here watch the music video I've directed last month. Crazy production schedule, it was done in a bit more than 3 weeks (backgrounds, animation and compositing). I hope you'll enjoy it. the bias is quite strong, like illustrations taken of old russian fairytales book and slow motions. The technic was new to me, 2D cut-out (puppet) animation.

MUSIC RELATED: Les Discrets and myself are very pleased to reveal the cover artwork of our next album called "Ariettes oubliées...".
This cover art is for me the most fitting, deep and meaningfull cover art I've ever done.
I am glad to share another cover artwork I did for the very cult metal band Morbid Angel. It's an album of remixes by several bands (electro/indus/dub etc).The work was done together with Valnoir Metastazis.

I'm currently directing a music video for Old Silver Key for their song "Burnt Letters". Production should be finished around 15th November. It's a very new style and kind of animation I never worked with, it's 2D cut out (puppet animation). Below is a pre-production picture. Many things changed so far, but still, you can get the mood.
Otherwise,
I've been commissioned to make another music video for Secrets Of The Moon. Live footages + a lot of post production. This music video will be done in December in collaboration with a close friend: F.M. Baillet. We'll set up a kind of "web studio" gathering our previous and future works. More informations soon.

Les Discrets / Arctic Plateau - to release a split together.

Since Fursy Teyssier's work on the artwork of Arctic Plateau's debut album "On A Sad Sunny Day" a special artistic relationship has flourished between the masterminds of the musical projects Les Discrets and Arctic Plateau. Now this friendship is being celebrated with the release of a limited split EP.
"Les Discrets / Arctic Plateau" is out on September 2nd and will be available as Digisleeve 2CD (ltd. 1.000) and vinyl LP (ltd. 500).
On Les Discrets' side of the split EP fans will get a first impression of the upcoming second album by Fursy Teyssier's band: the track "Le Mouvement Perpétuel" will also be featured on the upcoming album but comes as alternatively mixed/mastered version on this EP only. "The Persuaders" is a cover version of the homonymous tv series' theme song and will exclusively be featured on this release!
On Arctic Plateau's side the track "Music's Like..." will offer a taste of the upcoming album "The Enemy Inside". The demo songs "Amethyst To #F" and "Ivory" are of special historical relevance as these are the songs which led to Arctic Plateau's contract with Prophecy Productions in 2008 and are now being released for the first time ever and exclusive to this release.

Ghost Brigade Clawmaster - Work In Progress and explanations
These days I've been working together with 2 colleagues on the backgrounds stills. The film is really focused into atmosphere, which means that background pictures are really important. This is going well and I'm very happy with the result considering that each picture is done very quickly due to the deadline.
Background process goes as follow.
I'm drawing a rough picture of what the shot could be. That's the storyboard stuff, done for all the film long (step 1 on the picture).
Then, I take this rough picture and make it more precise, more detailed. This picture is then splitter into different layers (foreground, mid groud, mid mid groud, background) so that each is independent from others (step 2)
Once every layer has been separated, I open them in a software that creates 3D spaces. Each layer is separated in distance. Look at the picture (3). Then, when I move the camera, a obvious perspective is created (step 3)
I add blur, make the camera move, create fog, add noise/grain on the overall picture, eventually add characters or vehicles if there are some in the shot (step 4).
Next time I'll try to post some pictures of the storyboard, but everybody already seen a SB so...
The music video is splitted in two "parts". One which is the story, the other one the band playing.
For the band playing I decided to film it. But I won't film the actual Ghost Brigade band. I've booked a big cinema studio to shoot those parts. I'll be exactly in the same style as the film, only silhouette.
So we have to set up a special stage with lights and cyclos (big white room with no angles nor corner, so that the room is rounded and has no shadow nor separation between walls and ground) behind not to have the instruments and musician getting the light. This is a very premiere to me, I never directed anything with live footage. So I have a team of colleagues and professionals who will help me set up the lights, cameras etc.
Hopefully I'll share some pics of the shooting.
Besides that, I'm currently having tons of meetings and calls with my 3D team to fix the 3D problems and to enter in production very soon. So far, nothing about characters has been done. 3D needs time to be developed and setted up.
I basically expected to have some holidays in August, but that's completely over… But I hope it'll worth it. 3D stuff and researches will be posted soon as well.

Hello. Below is a video preview of the animated music video I'm working on these days, besides the Dark Heart film (which is the following to the Sophie Lancaster Dark Angel film). Both will be finished around early August. Exactly when I expected some summer holidays at the sea... Obviously. ;-)
You can follow the process of the film (steps of production while making an animated film) through the links below. There I'll show some storyboard sequences, animatic, researches, 3D modeling, editing, compositing etc. Then you'll know everything about animation.

LES DISCRETS & ARCTIC PLATEAU - Split EP coming soon

Not only did Fursy Teyssier discover Arctic Plateau for Prophecy Productions in 2008, he also created the artwork for their debut album "On A Sad Sunny Day" in the year after. What's more, he and Gianluca Divirgilio from Arctic Plateau have since become close friends. As a token of this friendship and as a harbinger for the sophomore albums (to be released in the near future) by Arctic Plateau and Les Discrets, a strictly limited split EP of both projects is going to be released soon on vinyl and as a double CD. Apart from one song each from the two imminent albums, this EP is going to feature exclusive tracks from both groups. Further information on this release to follow soon. where Les Discrets performed its very first show and it was an amazing experience
despite some few technical problems happening in the show. We didn't think
we'd have taken such a pleasure. For those who missed the show, you can watch

In january we went to the Drudenhaus Studio for a whole
month. We recorded the second yet untitled Les Discrets album. That was once
again an amazing experience and we are very very happy by the final result,
still unmixed. We should be back in Drudenhaus in March to mix and master
it. No release date is defined yet. Also, I'm please to inform you that Les
Discrets is having some shows booked, and new ones will be announced soon.

I am pleased to reveal two cover art I did these last months. The first one is for a various artist compilation released by Prophecy Productions called "Whom the Moon a nightsong sings". I spent more than two days on it and I am happy that there is no photoshop edit in it, that's only watercolor!
I am also very happy that two songs of us (5, Montée Des Épies (unreleased song) & Après L'Ombre) are featured in the compilation.

Also, I have worked for the french band The Oath (death/black ) for their upcoming album that will be released by Code666. Below the cover art.

A long time without news, but now I can give some...

I have finished the composition of the second Les Discrets album. It'll be made of a few old songs and a lot of fresh ones, composed these two latest years. The studio is already booked and we'll soon rehearse with Winterhalter with his brand new custom drums! Maybe some pictures will be uploaded soon.
... Expect a solid album!
Prophecy Productions decided to make new tshirts for Les Discrets and we would like the fans to choose the one they prefer within several different motives, as tshirts are done for fans first! First, I'm currently working as a background artist at Neomis Animation Studio (Paris) on the full length animated film of the very famous comic book TITEUF. A very interesting job with a team composed of old Disney background painters (Tarzan, Haunchback Of Notre Dame, etc)... I'm learning a lot!
I have also finished the artwork of "Handful Of Stars", the next DRUDKH album released on Season Of Mist. This is a very special artwork I'm very happy with, based on special and precise ideas of the band. See below!
A few months ago I finished the artwork of the wooden box for AGALLOCH. This box will contain 6 LP of 4 of their albums (Pale Folklore,The Mantle, etc) released on Viva Hate Records. The 4 LP together make a full picture that was drawn without computer at all! The band seem to be really happy with it, and it was a pleasure to work with my american friends as well!
I also did the artwork of the new LANTLÔS album ".neon", which is a pure masterpiece by the way.... out on Prophecy Productions now.

I think I can say that I am happy these days.
After having worked for that wonderful ALCEST album "Écailles De Lune" is, I'm pleased to inform you that I just finished working for an upcoming release by AGALLOCH, (I unfortunately can't tell you what) and that I have been contacted by the cult band DRUDKH for a whole artwork design too.
Music industry is made of secrets, sorry, I have nothing more to say but my happiness concerning these new requests!!
I also have just completed a cover art for the german band debut album HERETOIR.
I'm also very busy working on a logo for CLAD IN DARKNESS, a metal band from the U.S and, and because it never ends, I've started working for PHOTOPHOBIA, an multi-country metal band from Finland and Italy.
That's a big quantity of news and both make me very happy!!
